PROJETS

The experience that DOV TECHNOLOGIES has in nuclear projects is from the Dragons de Veracruz company, which has performed various services at the Laguna Verde Nuclear Power Plant in conjunction with internationally renowned companies.

These are some examples of the projects that have been carried out with great margin of success in Mexico with the related DVE company together with companies of a high international level.

 

 

Project: High efficiency ultrasonic cleaning of the nuclear fuel bundles of the Laguna Verde nuclear power plant (lvnpp).

Location: Laguna Verde Nuclear Power Plant
Execution period: January-February 2019 during the19th refuel outage of the Unit 1 and April-May 2019 during the 16th refuel outage of the Unit 2

With the support of our represented company Dominion Engineering Inc., it was performed the Ultrasonic Cleaning of 138 nuclear fuel bundles during the Refuel Outage of the Unit 1 and 160 nuclear fuel bundles during the Refuel Outage of the Unit 2 at the Laguna Verde Nuclear Power Plant (LVNPP)

The results of the campaign were satisfactory achieving approximately the following activity removal:

  • 5080 Ci in Unit 1

  • 4200 Ci Unit 2

 

Project: Cleaning of the dryer and separator pool, reactor cavity and under rack region of the spent fuel pool in the laguna verde nuclear power plant (lvnpp)

Execution period: January-July 2019 during the 19th refuel outage of the unit 1 and normal operation and April -September 2019 during the 16th refuel outage of the Unit 2 and normal operation.

With the support of our represented company Rolls Royce Nuclear Field Services Inc., was performed the cleaning of the dryer and separator pool, reactor cavity and the under rack region of the spent fuel pool, during the refuel outages of both units of the LVNPP.

The results obtained were satisfactory achieving the following:

DRYER AND SEPARATOR POOL AND REACTOR CAVITY CLEANING

  • 1191 Rem removed in Unit 1 (no foreign material found)

  • 960 Rem removed in Unit 2 (1 foreign material found and retrieved)

UNDER RACK REGION OF THE SPENT FUEL POOL CLEANING

  • 2225 Rem removed in Unit 1 (320 foreign material found and retrieved)

  • 1153 Rem removed in Unit 2 (119 foreign material found and retrieved)

Project: Chemical decontamination of the recirculation loops and rwcu system in the Laguna Verde nuclear power plant

Location: Laguna Verde Nuclear Power Plant
Execution Period: April-May 2019 during the 16th Refuel Outage of the Unit 2

With the support of our represented company Westinghouse Electric Company Inc., it was performed the Chemical Cleaning of the Recirculation loops of the Reactor Cooling Primary Circuit and a portion of the RWCU system, during the refuel outage of the Unit 2 of the LVNPP.

Such activity was executed under Westinghouse Electric Company’s Quality Assurance plan along with the approval of the Quality Assurance department of CFE.

The results obtained were satisfactory, achieving the following:

18.6 Kg of Iron removed (CRUD) from the RRC system It was achieved the following decontamination factors from the RRC system:

  • CFE DF = 94.7
  • WEC DF = 14.2

42.5 Kg of Iron removed (CRUD) from the RWCU system It was achieved the following decontamination factors from the RWCU system:

  • CFE DF = 85.1
  • WEC DF = 43.3

Project: Supply of valve specialized technicians “SME” (subject matter experts) to support mechanical maintenance personnel during the refuel outages of units 1 & 2 of the Laguna Verde Nuclear Power Plant (lvnpp)

 

Location: Laguna Verde Nuclear Power Plant
Execution Period: January-February 2019 during 19th refuel outage of unit 1 and April-May 2019 during 16th refuel outage of unit 2

With the support of our represented company CFM/VR-TESCO, LLC., it was performed the service of technical support to mechanical maintenance personnel in charge to execute the maintenance programs to the valves of the LVNPP, during the refuel outages of the units 1 & 2..

The service was performed with the following objectives:

    • To train mechanical maintenance personnel.
    • To support the mechanical maintenance personnel during the maintenance activities to the valves.
    • To identify improvement areas in the process, procedures, equipment and resources in general.

Project: Belzona removal, supply and application of epoxy coating to the water boxes and 108” pipes inlet and outlet of the main condenser of the units 1 & 2 of the Laguna Verde Nuclear Power Plant (lvnpp).


Location: Laguna Verde Nuclear Power Plant

Execution Period: During the 18th refuel outage of the unit 1 and the 15th refuel outage of the unit 2 of the LVNPP

Mechanical removal (sand blast) of the Belzona existing in the walls and floors of the water boxes and in the surface of the 108” pipes inlet and outlet of the main condenser of the units 1 & 2 of the LVNPP.

It was supplied new coating; the surfaces were prepared to meet the requirements to apply the epoxy coating with 100% os solids.

This service was required by CFE because each outage the Belzona showed degradation. With the execution pf this project and because of the properties of the epoxy coating, the LVNPP does not had the need to change the coating since its first application in 2017.
